The girls and I were out driving around today and noticed the temperature outside that my car was reading. Can you say HOT?!?!?
I am so proud of both of my girls. To look back at their swimming capabilities last year and compare them to now is absolutely amazing, especially Molly. She wouldn't let go of my neck last year and now she is swimming all by herself. I am so proud of Macy and Molly!
I was honored to be asked to sing at a fundraiser for Juveniele Diabetes where the famous, Vince Gill, was also singing. What a neat opportunity to be able to say that I was singing in the same room as someone famous!
Another fantastic week of Vacation Bible School has gone by again. I can't believe what an amazing impact that our church has on the community. Our church had over 1800 kids every day last week. We had over 50 kids make decisions to accept Christ and almost 80 make other life changing decisions. How wonderful it is to be able to be a part of this again this year.
I should have known today would be a little "off" when Brian gets a phone call at 6:00 this morning that his employees can't get in the building. The opening manager had forgotten about coming in...so Brian had to drive 40 minutes to work to let them in. Thank goodness he was back in time to help me get the girls ready for church.
Church was fantastic with a wonderful sermon from our pastor. We then went to pick the girls up and Brian couldn't find our security tag to pick them up. I am very thankful for the security at our church...but goodness gracious it is hard to get a new tag. Finally we were able to pick up the girls.
We then headed to Bowling Green to have lunch with the family (15 of us at lunch) and the girls fought the entire way there. I just knew it was going to be a very long day. We got to the restaurant and it only got worse. Finally, Brian took Molly by the hand and led her outside and to the car to have "a talk." On the way, Molly began to make excuses...the conversation went like this:
Molly: Da..da..da..daddy, are we going to the car? (she was stuttering)
Daddy: Yes
Molly: Da..da..da..daddy, am I gonna get a spanking?
Daddy: Yes
Molly: Da..da..da..daddy, would you do it really soft?
Well, Brian began laughing so hard...which made Molly start laughing and Brian wasn't even mad anymore. He couldn't spank her. Now, either Brian is a complete pushover (which he is with the girls) or Molly has his number... (I believe this is the case as well).
On the way back home, Molly continued to get in trouble with her daddy. It really was just a miserable hour and a half ride back home. When we got home, I had to run to Walmart and Brian said he was putting the girls down for a nap and taking one himself. So, off I went...thankful for a break from the drama. When I arrived home about an hour and half later, I was met at the door by the girls. I said, "did you take a nap?" They said, "no." I said, "where is daddy?" They said, "asleep." Right then and there I sensed a problem brewing. I went in and woke up Brian to inform him that they girls had never been asleep. After a little while, I went into the girls room to put something away and realized that something had gone very wrong in that bedroom. What I proceeded to see was half of their clothes that had once been hanging in their closet thrown all over the floor. I then noticed something on the dresser...it was ointment. It was not only ALL OVER the dresser, but it was also rubbed on the beds, the carpet and the walls. My first reaction was the summon the girls into the room to make them clean it up...then I realized that I was just as mad at Brian. You see....9 times out of 10 when I leave the house, the girls get into something...and I mean BIG trouble and he never seems to realize it. So..I spent the next hour of my afternoon cleaning up very greasy stuff off of their entire room.
So, you think my story is over, right....NOPE! A couple of hours pass and my mother comes over for a little while. We were chatting and I noticed that Molly was spinning around and around in the kitchen and just as I was about to say, "be careful" she becomes very dizzy and she slams into the cabinets and then slams onto the floor. She becomes hysterical...gigantic knot appears on her head. I picked her up quickly, got ice for her head, and wanted to go straight for the conversation about "that's what happens when you spin around..." but somehow it just wasn't appropriate at that time.
Well, very soon after this, the girls went to bed and thus ends Mother's Day 2010. I'm thinking that I won't be wishing this day to come again soon next year.
This weekend, Brian and I spent a lot of time outside working in the yard. Brian really loves this time of year because he gets to plant all the flowers, put together gorgeous pots, and get things ready for the summer. He planted 6 flats of white Bagonias. They will get really big and look just beautiful. He also planted three new rose bushes and a new tree!
Today, I worked on our outdoor wicker furniture. It was very weathered and in desperate need of new paint...so, that's exactly what it got. I don't think I'll be able to use my finger for a week after spraying 10 cans of spray paint. I also painted our table (firepit). It was very gross looking...looks great now! Brian worked on the flower pots and we also got two new ferns that we hung. So excited to enjoy our back porch.
A couple of weeks ago, my dad bought the girls this new playhouse. I think it took Brian, myself and my dad longer to put this together than our entire swingset! It has been so worth it. The girls absolutely love it! Brian has enjoyed landscaping around it. We even added Gizmo's own house (that's our dog). This is now such an enjoyable area for us to sit and relax and the girl's can play. The best part of it is that it is in the shade other than about three hours during the middle of the day!!
I took the girls today to get their haircut. Both were in need of a trim...but we decided they needed a new summer "do." Molly got about an inch and half cut off and Macy got three and a half inches. They love their "lighter" hair and it is much easier for mommy to fix!!
Molly's granddaddy bought her "very first bike" for Easter. Macy has had a bike for almost two years now, but we hadn't felt that Molly was ready for one yet. She tried to ride Macy's several times...but, well...Macy wasn't too fond of her riding "her" bike. So, now Molly has one of her own. And I will tell you...I certainly hope she doesn't drive a car like she steers her bike. She is a maniac! She has had so many wrecks...but she always gets right up and says "it was the bike's fault." So funny! I love how the helmets look twice as big as their head!
