Funny Macy-ism's

Macy absolutely cracks us up most of the time. Saturday night was one of those times. Macy decided to sleep with Brian (she stayed with her Ninnie and Grandaddy the first three nights). I was just about to turn the light off and I hear (with her finger pointing as well): "I told you to hush, now get into time out." Macy was telling her bunny all of this. So, I guess she really does hear me!! She just obeys as well as Bunny does!!

Day 3: Beach Fun Again

Macy is definitely a beach girl. She could stay out all day if we would let her.

Keith and Ryan were brave (or should I say stupid) enough to get in the water. May I remind you from Day 1 that the water is 64 degrees. They did not stay in long and they laughed at how cold they were.

There was hardly anyone on the beach on Day 1, but that was a different story on Day 3. I think that either their Spring Break started or that is how it is on Saturday's.

That evening we went to the mall and of course, Macy had to ride the car. She loves these rides anywhere we go.

Day 2: Paula Deen

One of the reasons we chose Savannah was that my mother-in-law absolutely loves Paula Dean and this is where she lives, works and shops. So, we took the "Savannah, Paula Dean Tour." Macy loved riding on the bus...she was the center of attention from all participants.

Paula Dean's history with Savannah and how she got started was very interesting. She continues to take care of the shops that helped her out in the beginning. One of those was Polk's Market. She still buys all of her fresh fruits and vegetables, honey and nuts from here. We stopped and actually met Mr. Polk. Wish we had one of these here.

We then stopped at Byrd Cookie Company. She has all of her gift baskets made here, keeps their cookies always in stock and many other goodies that they carry. They are famous for their Key Lime Cookies...and yes, we bought plenty at this store!! We made the excuse that we were buying gifts...we'll see if that really happens.

Then we stopped by the Bethesda Boy's Home which is a boy's orphanage/foster home that Paula Dean helps to support. This is where she and her husband, Michael, got married in 2004. What a beatiful chapel!

At the end of the tour, they took us to Paula's brother's restaurant called "Uncle Bubba's Oyster House." While we were eating, Bubba himself came in and talked to us and I took a picture of Frances, Robin and Macy with him. He also signed Robin's book.

After the tour, the guys were tired and wanted to go back to the hotel, but us girls weren't done looking around and shopping. We drove around Savannah a little while, but then we were on a mission. While we were at Uncle Bubba's, they told us that Paula lived in a gated community a mile down the road from the restaurant. Well, we wanted to see where she lived...call us nosey...call us whatever you want...but we found it! I followed a car into the gate and we drove around until we found the house. Frances and Robin knew what the house looked like from her magazines, since she films her show from her house.

That evening, we ate at a restaurant on the beach. Macy and Daddy had so much fun together.

Day 1: Afternoon

After spending some time at the beach, we headed into Savannah to Riverstreet. Along the river on the original cobble stone street are all kinds of shops. We especially liked the ones that gave out free samples. The big thing there was pralines. My husband and sister-in-law absolutely love them. In fact, my sister-in-law bought 2 pounds that day and we had to go back the next day to buy more because she had eaten them all. She bought 3 pounds the next day.

Macy got to enjoy her first candy necklace. I remember having these when I was a kid. It was fun to watch her figure out what she was supposed to do with it.

She then posed for me...it was the most still she had been all day!!...especially with no nap. She looks so innocent...what an actress!

Day 1: "We're at the Beach, Mommy!!"

I know it has been a week since I last posted, and for good reason. We have been on vacation!!! We took Brian's parents along with his sister, brother-in-law and nephew to Savannah and Tybee Island, Georgia. We absolutely had a blast. We did not take Molly with us because she is just too young to have had any fun, so Macy got our undivided attention...which she usually demands anyway! Molly got to have fun with Nomie and Poppy.

We spent the first half of the first day at the beach. Macy was so excited, she could hardly contain herself. She played in the sand building sand castles with her daddy.

She played in the ocean. And just to give you an idea of how things just don't faze children...the ocean was approx. 64 degrees. I could hardly have my feet in much less any more of my body, but Macy didn't care. There was no shivering, no blue lips, and she even just sat down in the water.

We even got a kite to fly because the wind was just perfect.

Easter and Egg Hunting

What a fun day the girls had!! We drove to Bowling Green after church to see Brian's family and have lunch. Brian's family loves Easter and hiding eggs for the kids. We ended up hiding inside because it was too cold to go outside.

After the egg hunting was over, we had a real treat by Molly!! Her Neanie was teaching her the hand clap rhyme called "Ole Mary Mack." Not sure if any of you have heard it, but it goes like this...Ole Mary Mack, Dressed in black, Three gold buttons up and down her back, I love coffee, I love tea, I love the boys and the boys love me...You play a patty cake of sorts with another person. Anyway... Molly was patting the hands and trying the say the words. It was more like humming and mumbling but it was hilarious. She was definitely the center of attention!! She doesn't get that much with her sister around.

Happy 50th!

Yesterday, March 22nd, my in-laws celebrated 50 years of marriage. That is such a great accomplishment these days. We are so proud for them. Brian, Macy and I and Brian's sister and brother-in-law and their son are taking their parents to Savannah, Ga and Tybee Island on Wednesday. My mother-in-law is a huge fan of Paula Dean and my father-in-law loves history so they are so excited about going. We can't wait.

Good Girl Reward

Macy was so good today at Walmart that I couldn't help but grant her request to play in the car on our way out. She just loves that moving car. Then she found the car game and wanted to drive. (Sometimes when we get home, I let her sit on my lap and pretend to drive...I gues she wanted to do it for herself.) She didn't really play the game, but she sure loved moving the steering wheel.

...I am just not sure. I love my kids hair in the mornings!

I am thinking Molly wasn't coming as fast as Macy wanted her to...she had to use other means of getting her sister to come to her room.

A Wonderful Friday to Remember

What a wonderful day it is. I have have always felt a bit of sadness and guilt when Good Friday came around remembering Christ dying on the cross for us...until tonight. I went to our Cross Service at church and what a wonderful message was given. We are to look at the cross and the death of Jesus Christ as the most wonderful blessing ever given to us. We are to have deep thanks and gratefulness and remember that God is showing us His character. WOW. Our speaker (one of our pastors) used the comparison of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 22. Abraham showed his faithfulness to God by being willing to sacrifice his only son as God asked. God showed His true character by sparing Isaac and providing a ram stuck in a bush to take his place. Our speaker asked us how we thought Isaac must have felt looking into the eyes of the ram and knowing that he took his place on that alter. That is how we should look at and remember our Lord and Saviour. How humble and blessed I feel tonight as I write this and His magesty and glory will be praised as we remember His arising from the grave and into the heavens!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!

New Look
