Ryan's Birthday

Brian's nephew, Ryan, turned sixteen on Thursday and his party was Saturday afternoon. Ryan got a car for his birthday from his parents, so this was more for the rest of us. He had the neatest cake with a white Jeep on it, just like the real one he got.

Then, the girls wanted to go swimming in their pool, so daddy and Aunt Robin got in with them. They had so much fun playing, jumping in, laughing, and... sliding down the slide. I couldn't believe just how brave Macy was. See below:

Tea Party

My sweet baby girl, Macy, is going to be 3 in just a couple of weeks. Because we are leaving right after her birthday, I decided to have her birthday party this past Saturday. She a tea party with 5 of her friends. They were so cute sipping tea in their little tea cups, eating little peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and goldfish and then cupcakes.

After lunch, they got to decorate a door hanging to take home.

After the craft came the cupcakes. I have to admit that I am very proud of Macy's cupcakes...because I made them myself. They were shaped like teacups and teapots. They were so cute. Eat your heart out Paula Dean!!

Then came time for the presents. Macy had been so patient the entire morning, she enjoyed the tea time, the lunch and the cupcakes. But once she began opening her gifts, a different Macy came out. A three year old that we had not seen before. This little Macy did not want anyone touching her presents, playing with them, or much less looking at them. I know that it is her age and this is the first time she had really understood opening presents, but I felt so bad for her friends. I don't think they understood what was going on either. Daddy had to take Macy to her room several times for "talks." Oh well, such is a three year old. I hope her friends won't hold it against her.

Slip-n-Slide

Friday night, we went to have dinner with some friends. The girls played on the slip-n-slide and in the pool. Macy had a ball climbing up the small slide and sliding down onto the slip-n-slide. It was something new for her. She is very daring. Molly climbed up the ladder only to look down toward the slide and immediately climbed back down.

After they swam for a little while, we all had dinner. Molly particularly enjoyed dinner. She ate everything on her plate, then ate what was left on Macy's plate, then searched everyone else's plates for what they had left. It was so funny. She ate the rest of the evening.

Update on Curtains

As I mentioned several weeks ago, I have been working on several house projects. I have finished all but the bathroom. Well, last weekend, I completed my kitchen valences and I do have to say they are beautiful!! It seemed like it took me forever because I would only have a moment here or moment there to work on them (I wonder why with a 3 year old and 18 month old). Anyway, here is my proud accomplishment.

"The Comfy Couch"

Some of you may have heard of the TV program that is on PBS called "Loonette and the Comfy Couch." Macy has watched it a few times and has a video. Anyway, I thought of that when I saw Molly. Another thing I wanted to point out that I think is cute...Molly twists and plays with her hair when she drinks her bottle. Yes, Molly still drinks a bottle...sue me!! She doesn't suck her thumb or carry around a blanket or animal, but she just won't let go of the bottle. I have tried every sippy cup known to man...she just doesn't want it!!

Sprinkler Fun

This evening, after dinner, the girls wanted to go play in the sprinkler. Brian got a new sprinkler the other day so we thought we would see if they liked it. Well, they loved it. Molly was a little skiddish at first, but soon changed her mind.

New Favorite Word

I was so excited on Saturday when Molly said a new word. We went out to eat and she began pointing at a family close by and she began to say "baby." Well, it was more like "bee-bee." This has been her new favorite word since then. Tonight, she kept pointing at my Parents magazine saying "bee-bee." It is very cute!!

Praise the Lord

My sister-in-law, Robin, found out she had cervical cancer a little over a year ago. She had a radical hysterectomy, chemo and radiation through Christmas and had a perfect PET Scan back in March. She had her six month check up today and, praise our gracious, loving, holy Lord, she got another clean bill of health. She doesn't have to go back for another check up for four months.

Thank you Lord for your grace and your healing. You have been Robin's strength and guidance through this whole process and we thank you for that. We have all become stronger in our faith by just watching her and how she has handled all of this. What an awesome witness she is and what an awesome testimony she now has and now uses. Thank you for her and for our family. How blessed I am to be a part of it.

First Time to the Dentist

Macy had her first dentist appointment today and I was so proud of her!! I wasn't sure how she would react because she does not like it when I brush her teeth. She won't open her mouth, she bites down on the toothbrush, and she shakes her head so I can't get to her. But my precious girl layed there so still and let them count her teeth, clean them and check them for cavities...and guess what? NO CAVITIES!!

It really does help to take children to a pediatric dentist because he had stuff all over the walls and ceiling, TV's in the ceiling above the chairs, and lots of prizes for sitting still!! She got stickers, a T-shirt, sunglasses, and a new toothbrush!! It makes me a little sad though because she is growing up right before my eyes. She is not a baby anymore (well, she will always be my baby!!)

That is what Macy told her daddy when asked about cleaning her room. As you can see, there was a lot of work to be done!!

Birthday Party

Today, Macy and Molly went to a "Princess Birthday Party." The birthday girls, Ashley and Laura, were turning 4 and 2 (about a month apart) so their mom had their parties together. Their mom, Stephanie, made lots of great, yummy food including PB&J in the shape of butterflies, pink colored chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels, fruit, cucumber sandwiches and chocolate cupcakes with pink icing...all of which she made herself. She also made each little girl and pink tutu and purse with their name embroidered on it.

After we ate, she had the girls do a craft decorating a princess crown and wand. Macy loved it, Molly not so much. Ha

I believe at this point, they had already had too much sugar.

Then, they had a jumpy princess castle and Macy just loved it. Again, Molly not so much. She was more interested in the car.

Just before it was time to go home, we had those yummy chocolate cupcakes. Macy sure did love the icing...most of the cake was left. HA

Molly was so tired on the way home...that she fell asleep and never let go of her bottle. It was so funny!!
