Congratulations

Brian and I had the privelege of singing and playing at his cousin's wedding this weekend. We were treated like royalty! The wedding was at a convention center on the lake. We got to stay for the entire weekend, enjoyed the rehearsal dinner, a big breakfast the next morning, the wedding, the reception, and lots of rest!! My parents kept Molly and Brian's parents kept Macy. It was so quiet!! We couldn't believe the drive there. Two hours of quiet...we didn't even turn the radio on! HA

Jennifer was such a beautiful bride and it was so wonderful to meet her new husband. Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your special day!

Neat Scene

As we were driving home today, we saw a family of 6 deer running through this yard. I quickly grabbed my camera to capture this amazing site in the middle of the day.

Vacation Bible School

Our church's annual Vacation Bible School started today. This is the first year that I have volunteered to help. I just had to show these pictures because I was blown away at the amount of kids that come. What an awesome opportunity our church has to reach these kids. WOW!

He's Done It Again...

If you remember last spring, when Brian made our yard look like this...well, he has done it again. He worked so hard over the weekend planting and pulling and mulching. I am so glad that he loves to work in the yard. I don't mind some of it, but I just don't like the heat.


We actually had heard from some friends that a nursery that was just down the street had opened to the public and had some good deals, so we went to check it out. Did I say good deals??? Oh my goodness,...we got two huge hanging baskets, two large potted plants, 2 (10 pack) flats of plants and 2 (36 pack) flats of flowers for $40!! And take a look at the hanging baskets (not hanging in the picture) and one of the pots...$6!!!!!


Then Sunday, when I got home from having to sing all three services at church, Brian told me he had a surprise. I was so excited. He got me a new umbrella for our deck furniture. Ours had broken at the end of last year and I had been talking about one for a while. I had always heard that you should match your back porch or whatever you see from the back of the house to what your colors are from inside the windows. Well, our colors are golden yellow, brown and a shrimp orange in the kitchen and dining room/living room. Well, the umbrella is the shrimp orange and it looks fantastic from inside the house looking out.


Doesn't this back porch look inviting? Who's up for some iced tea on the back porch?

I'm So Glad I'm Me

Today, Macy had her first dance recital. I am sure that I was way more excited about it than she was, but she sure did love putting on that costume. I decided to try and roll her hair in sponge rollers Thursday night to even see if she would leave them in. I can remember my mother doing that to me and I didn't seem to mind it too much. She actually left them in. Molly wanted hers rolled as well...but, wanted them out as soon as her head hit the pillow.

Friday morning, the rollers were still in Macy's hair and it turned out adorable. She had the dress rehearsal on Friday and that is when we were able to make pictures and take video. I know I am her mother, but I really think she was the best and the cutest kid on stage! Her Nini and Granddaddy, Nomie and Poppy, Molly and Aunt Mary Jane were all able to come watch her perform during the rehearsal.


I volunteered to be one of the stage moms for her class so I was able to help all the girls line up and get ready to go on stage. They were so cute and so excited.


Saturday was the performance and Brian was able to go and see her. The three of us had a date. We took Macy to the Spaghetti Factory before the recital and then walked over to the performance hall. It was really special because the dance studio performs in the largest performance hall in Nashville, where any musical like Phantom of the Opera performs. Really neat!!

Relay for Life

Friday night, we attended the Relay for Life ceremony at my sister-in-law's Robin) school in Smith's Grove. Robin, has been cancer free for a year and a half. PRAISE THE LORD! She was diagnosed with cervical cancer in May of 2007, had a radical hystorectomy in June and had chemo and radiation until Christmas. She has been such an inspiration and a testimony to so many people...especially her family. It is certainly not easy to see anyone in your family go through something like cancer, but to witness the faith that Robin had (and still has) through the entire process was truly amazing. I look up to her so much and I know that Brian loves his sister more than anything.

It was so wonderful to be able to hear Robin speak and share her heart with everyone at Relay for Life. I don't know what the total was this year, but her school raised more money than any other school in Bowling Green last year. There were so many there that were either battling cancer or had been affected by it. Here is Robin speaking.

They also had all kinds of activities and games for the kids. Macy wanted her face painted like a cat and she is doing one of her favorite things...blowing bubbles.

And of course, Molly had to get her face painted too...well, she decided to have her arm painted! A flower to match her shirt. They had a ball.

Molly:

"Sicky Puck" - Sippy Cup

She is a shoe freek!! If you leave a pair of shoes out, she WILL have them on. Brian took the girls to Target yesterday to shop for Mother's Day and Brian said that she must have tried on 50 pair of shoes while they were looking for me a pair of flip-flops.

Macy:

This morning while I was getting ready, Macy came into the bathroom holding my Mother's Day card. Brian quickly told her that she couldn't give it to me yet because she needed to sign it. She ran off and a few minutes later, she came into the bathroom again with the card. Brian told her she still couldn't give it to me because Molly had not signed it. She ran off again (Molly was still in the bed) and came back again a few minutes later with the card. Brian said "Macy, I told you that you can't give mommy the card yet because Molly hasn't signed it yet." Macy said, "Oh that's ok daddy, I signed it for her." We laughed so hard!!

My Big Girl

Over the weekend, my mother-in-law went to a garage sale and bought Macy and Molly a bicycle with training wheels. I thought...great, now we are going to have to run along with her while she learns to ride this and she is probably going to fall off so many times, she'll have bandages everywhere. Well, I was wrong. She got on the bike and began to pedal as if she had been riding the bike for months. She even knew to go backward with the pedals to brake. She is growing up before my eyes!!

Jesus Loves Me

Brian let me go out for a while by myself as an early Mother's Day treat. When I got home, this is the sweet sound coming from our living room. What a blessing it is to see your child singing songs about Jesus.

So Proud

I am so proud of Macy. Yesterday, I asked Macy to draw a picture for my grandmother (because her birthday is Tuesday). She said she wanted to write Happy Birthday. Well, to date, she has only written her name (for me that is), so I really thought I was going to have to help her write the entire thing. I told her that I would help her write it and that the first letter was "H." Before I could get my hand over to write it so she could copy it, she had written it. So then, I said A, and she wrote A (already knew that one because it's in her name). Then I said "P" and she wrote a "D." Not sure if she needed a little assistance or if she thought that is what I said. Anyway, the only other letter she needed help with was the "B." I am the proudest mom on the planet!!

Funny Sayings

Today, the girls and I were in the car driving to a friend's house when Macy said, "Mommy, can I have my sippy cup." Then Molly said "Mommy, I want my sicky puck, too!" I just cracked up. I said, "what was that you wanted, Molly." And with a very straight face she said, "my sicky puck, mommy."
